Summary of the position and duties (sous chef)

The sous chef is responsible for supporting the head chef. You are ambitious, decisive and flexible, but you are also accurate and reliable. As a supporting manager you are ultimately responsible and the point of contact if the head chef is not present.

Responsibilities

• responsible for good relationship with wait / kitchen staff
• responsible for a professional, open and hospitable appearance to guests and colleagues
• responsible for reporting any bottlenecks on time
• responsible for implementing agreements and achieving set goals (quantitative and qualitative)
• responsible for professional communication with suppliers of products and services
• responsible for cleaners and organizing staff

Tasks

• keep track of responsible orders and ensure that stock is in order
• monitor and coach on the correct working method of kitchen staff
• perform/schedule maintenance if necessary
• responsible for enforcing rules regarding neighbors/municipality (windows/music/terrace etc.)
• communication with suppliers of responsible products and services
• monitor the time registration of the kitchen staff when the head chef is not present
• point of contact for staff on personal/professional matters if head chef is not present
• proactively manage for a good mutual atmosphere between colleagues when head chef is not present
• manage and improve basement organization
